In the city where I live, in the interior of Minas Gerais (Brazil), the main economic activity is coffee cultivation. Considering the historical past of colonialism, slavery and oppression that we experience in my country, today we have seen the prominence of women entrepreneurs and coffee producers, who lead their cultures in the face of prejudice and misogyny.
We have also seen the predominance of women coffee collectors, passing the activity on to the younger women in the family, teaching one of the highest paid jobs in the community, during the grain harvest period.
These are the matriarchs of the coffee fields, who are changing the culture that revolves around the production of this commodity and the leadership landscape of this industry.
