We live in a culture that often idolizes youth, relegating aging to the background and, at times, to the margins of our attention and care. In this context, long-term care facilities emerge as spaces that often represent the last refuge for older adults who face physical, emotional and social challenges in their lives. This work also honors and recognizes the tireless work of caregivers and professionals who dedicate their lives to caring for the elderly. Each image captures the dedication and professionalism of these individuals, showing that care goes far beyond daily tasks. It is a relationship of trust, affection and mutual respect that develops between them and that are fundamental to the well-being and quality of life of older adults. In “The Last Station”, each photograph is a silent but powerful testimony to the resilience and humanity that characterize the aging process. In addition to being an invitation to rethink our values, priorities and attitudes towards older adults, this work seeks to inspire change, promote dialogue and, above all, celebrate life in the last station of the human journey.
